  • Music tech developers Native Instruments and dance publication De:bug will join forces this coming Thursday at Berlin's Berghain. If you've peered over a DJ booth in recent months and were met with the sight of what appeared to be a four-cornered Christmas tree, chances are you were looking at NI's new groove production unit Maschine which has been finding favour among the more technology savvy DJs of late. To celebrate the product's release, NI will host a takeover of Berghain and have assembled a cast of DJs and VJs who will all be showcasing the new product's potential alongside NI's other DJ booth hit Traktor. Jochem Paap, AKA Speedy J, has always been at the fore of technological advances in the DJ market, and will use the opportunity to set up next to his sometime collaborator Scott Pagano for an all-encompassing audio/visual performance. Joining the pair will be Detroit doyen Carl Craig, Warp and Planet Mu genre-hopper Tim Exile, Ninja Tune's Emika and Klein & Meister from Extract. De:bug meanwhile have opted for a similarly varied cast for Panorama Bar, of which Dial's Efdemin sits at the top of the list. You can also expect disco from Matt Didemus of Junior Boys fame, live techno from Klang Elektronik's Nerk & Dirk Leyers and plenty of the unexpected from DJs Bassdee, Bleed, Ji-Hun Kim and Alphazebra, who all play under the De:bug Allstars banner.
