  • Brighton's Loop Festival will host its third annual event in the city next weekend. The festival is dedicated to showcasing everything from the hottest electronic dance music through to relaxing folk and electronica, and will take place in various venues across the city from July 10-12. Things kick off fairly quietly on the Friday night with a set from Matthew Herbert and his Big Band at the Brighton Dome, but the real action is to be had over during the Saturday and Sunday. The hub of Loop will be the open-air stage in Victoria Gardens, which will host dance floor-friendly acts like bass-wielding electronic mastermind Squarepusher and electro-rockers Datarock on the Saturday, with a much more chilled line-up of múm and Tuung on the Sunday for those with weary heads after the previous night's proceedings. On the Saturday night, Karin Dreijer-Andersson's Fever Ray project will bring some ice-cold electronic pop to the Corn Exchange alongside Kompakt favourite The Field, The Juan Maclean and Riton will jack things up at Digital, The Glimmers headline Komedia, and Mary Anne Hobbs will oversee a cherry-picked dubstep line-up of Brackles and the elusive Zomby at Concorde 2. People looking for something more upbeat on the Sunday should head to the Corn Exchange, where they'll be treated to live sets from quirky kraut-poppers Fujiya & Miyagi and electro-disco aficionado Joakim.
