  • Bear Funk are set to launch a new compilation series next month, entitled Hibernation. Stevie Kotey's Bear Entertainment network of labels has been pumping out quality disco-inflected material since the turn of the century, but this is Kotey's first venture into the realm of unmixed CD packages. The Hibernation series promises to compile "a few greatest hits of the previous months, the future smashes and some exclusives unavailable elsewhere," but the first volume will treat listeners to thirteen previously unreleased tracks. Greg Wilson, Blackjoy and relative newcomer Enzo Ponzio all contribute fresh remixes. While Ronda, Free Disco, King DJ and Robert Auser all deliver nu-disco cuts that are tailored for the dance floor. One of the most anticipated tracks, though? That'd probably be Kotey Extra Band's "Daybreak," which sees the Bear boss hook up with Hans Peter Lindstrom to give the Norwegian studio wizard's astral synths an Afro-tinged funky disco backbone to groove upon. Tracklist 01. Social Disco Club - The Way You Move (Greg Wilson Version) 02. Ronda - Folana 03. The Diaphanoids - Mermaids Of Lunaris (A Blackjoy Disco Mix) 04. Jan Ken Po - Rhapsody In Leather 05. Billy Bogus & Sal - Terror Island (Enzo Ponzio Mix) 06. Altz - Orympia Rocks 07. Filippson & Ulysses - Fluffy Amadeus 08. Robert Auser - Secret Can 09. King DJ - Ex Memory 10. Sleazy McQueen - One Extra Day 11. Free Disco - The Kelp Man 12. Kotey Extra Band - Daybreak 13. Weirdo Police - Ghost Boat (Many People Died) Digital bonus: Lordy - Off With His Head (Altz Remix) Bear Funk will release Hibernation Vol. 1 on June 29th, 2009.
