  • Detroit techno practitioner Stacey Pullen is set to drop into Australia later this week, playing shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Perhaps best known for helping spark Detroit's techno revival in the early 1990s alongside the likes of Carl Craig and Underground Resistance, Pullen's soul, tribal and house influence has become legendary, with his unique interpretations of techno appearing under guises such as Bango, Silent Phase and Kosmik Messenger. Speaking of the latter moniker, in an exclusive interview with RA, Pullen recently revealed that he'll be reissuing classic Kosmik Messenger material on his own Black Flag imprint. In addition, Pullen has also just completed a new single for the label, which he'll be premiering in Australia called "Alive." In the same interview, Pullen also told us that he had just finished a mix for 2020 Vision which takes in tracks from the entire label's 15-year catalogue. Pullen's appearances in Australia will be his first in more than a year, and will mainly consist of extended sets where he gets to stretch out and take punters on a proper journey. To set the mood, he's promised that he'll be playing a bit of vinyl while in the country, along with his usual laptop set-up.
