  • Matthias Vogt of Motorcitysoul is set to embark on a short tour of Australia in May. The German deep house duo of C-Rock and Matthias Vogt have been pushing their smooth 4/4 sound since 2004, but recent releases on Tsuba, Simple and Freerange have shed a little bit more of the limelight their way. They're also accomplished DJs, hosting their Going Deeper residency at Sven Vath's Cocoon club in their Frankfurt hometown. Vogt will begin his tour of the continent on May 16th at Melbourne's Ffour Bar, before moving on to Brisbane and Sydney the following weekend. Revellers in Sydney will get to attend an extra special show, as Vogt will be playing two sets across two rooms at the CO-OP event. Disco fans are also in store for a treat, as UK-based disco deviant Graham Clark (AKA The Revenge) will also play two sets at the party. Tickets for their Sydney show are already available directly through RA. We caught up with Vogt to talk about the group's future plans, preparation for the tour and what we can expect from the upcoming gigs.
What are you working on at the moment? After finishing work on our Technique album, we decided to change our recording situation. Right now C-Rock and I are moving our Motorcitysoul studio to a bigger room. Working on the curtains, painting, all that. Have you played Australia before? No, it will be my very first time! I'm looking forward to it very much. A little anxious about the long flight though - I'm quite tall! How do you prepare differently for a tour of Australia than you would normally? Do you prepare differently at all? I maybe would prepare differently if I knew what would happen there... I'll talk to my mates Ian Pooley and Will Saul who played in Australia before and hope they'll tell me some top secrets about playing in Australia, but I think I am probably booked to play my Motorcitysoul sound and that's the same eveywhere in the world. So will play similarly to what I play in Frankfurt, Istanbul, New York or in Lithuania... Any new tunes we can expect to hear out? Loads of new tracks and remixes. There will be a new Motorcitysoul 12" out on Simple, plus one on Stir 15 with remixes from Sascha Dive and Jay Shepheard. New mixes for Boris Hutton, Paradice and Martin Brodin. And C-Rock did a solo 12" that comes out on his Lofi Stereo imprint, with a kicking remix from Reboot. I did some solo stuff as well, which is coming out on Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero's Saw Recordings label. And finally I did some remixes for Neil Quigley (Urbantorque), Alton Miller (Prog City Deep) and Drei Farben House (Polytone). Looking forward to playing all this new stuff! How did the season for Eintracht Frankfurt turn out? Frankfurt is giving us a hard time. Well, they are still not safe. Still possible they`re going down. But Eintracht played very well against the young guns of Leverkusen and against surprising top team of Hoffenheim - two draws in a row - which gives us some hope. Important Eintracht players are injured for a long period, but right now they are coming back. Well, I hope so... Eintracht!
