Huh ?! Disco 3000 Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve Trash (!) The guy’s a London legend – properly doing it for the love of it all. Unless you think we should all play loopy conga-house (nah man’s funky house is rubbish innit we calls it funky techno here) and dare not repeat that it’s the sort of thing that Eddie Richards and the tech-house lot were bashing out eight years ago, as well as being so formulaic that even Morillo’s been going there for years at Pacha when he gets ‘tribal’. But let’s not mention that (as well as Luciano playing for Pete Tong at Wonderland and dropping Amerie acapellas) because we’ve all got a selectively short memory.

Posts / 35 RA Since / Aug 2006 Location / London | #21 / Mon, 07 Sep 09 13:32 Not my sort of thing, all this nu disco stuff is a bit dull imho, but this is nowhere near as horrible as I'd feared. Track at around 1:10:00 in particular is cool.
Still, not sure it warrants some of the bashing above. 'I disapprove of what you play, but I will defend to the death your right to play it'. Or something like that...

| #22 / Mon, 07 Sep 09 13:40 Unfortunately Erol didn't want to give us a tracklisting for the mix, but I'm sure you lot will have little trouble piecing things together. I'll get you started:
00:00 - Black Cock - Get Ready (Reprise) 01.06 - [Possible Erol edit of something I have] 04:53 - Charlie - Spacer Woman 07:00 - ?? 10:10 - Beat Club - Security 15:00 - Supercharge - I Think I'm Going To Fall (In Love) (Disco 3000 Edit) 18:00 21:00 - Harry Thumann - Sphinx 25:30 - ?? 28:30 - ?? 30:30 - Possible Erol edit 34:30 - ?? 36:00 - 37:00 - 39:00 - 42:00 - Bumblebee Unlimited - I Love You 46:15 - 49:15 - Barrabas - Woman (Erol Alkan remix?) 52:30 - 54:15 - Jodie "Fingers" Finch - Jack Your Big Booty 57:23 - [Erol edit of something very familiar] 60:30 - Peter Jacques Band - Walking On Music 63:05 - 66:00 - [I actually have this, which is doing my head in] 68:00 - Max Berlin - Elle Et Moi (Joakim Remix) 74:00 - 75:45 - Stevo Armani - (Don't Say) It's Over (Mascara DJs Action mix)

Posts / 41 RA Since / Dec 2006 Location / Leeds | #24 / Mon, 07 Sep 09 13:57 (Edited: 7 Sep 09 14:56) Well I for one enjoyed this, although not convinced of its longevity
Yea i've heard quite a lot of the tracks before but its always nice to get quality mix to listen to of a monday at work, especially when its foot tapping discoey goodness (well in parts anyway, other parts i thought we're a bit deeper) such as this which isnt at all cheese.
cheers erol and RA
p.s Not at all impressed there is no tracklist. Its lazy and inconsiderate to all the artists (use their stuff, give them no recognition etc)

New user Posts / 8 RA Since / May 2007 | #26 / Mon, 07 Sep 09 14:27 This RA sounds like he's taken all the italo disco tunes since Starsky and Hutch, without much selection. Even though I have nothing against this genre, I feel he really did it for himself than for RA listeners. For example I loved mayann's RA for the personnality of the mix, here it's just a documentary. Seems like he wants some affection for this tribute. ps: Luciano is a gigolo + never been to pacha.

| #29 / Mon, 07 Sep 09 15:02 Surprised at the strong anti-Erol early feedback from a couple of people. Ive always enjoyed here him playing everywhere from Bugged Out parties at The End or his Glastonbury sets in that old barn.
So what if he drops a few classics, the guy is a great party DJ. We can't all stand around chin stroking - where is the fun in that.
This mix is different to what i expected, but enjoyed it.

Posts / 59 RA Since / Aug 2008 | #32 / Mon, 07 Sep 09 15:22 (Edited: 7 Sep 09 15:34) Mix is alright but not flawless...selection a bit too patchy perhaps...end is more solid i feel. Plus this selection is the kind of which you got tons on his own website's Podcast...i guess i would have been more interested to hear a straight techno and house selection from mr Alkan, which i think he could do very well too some nice stuff though, the percussive dubby electro choon around 32:00 is dope
Here's some more IDs : 01:06 - My Mine - Hypnotic Tango (Erol's edit) 07:00 - Knight Action - Single Girl

I love the dual complaints of 'No tracklist WTF' 'He's only playing tunes everyone knows' .
