- But you also have to spend an hour of your time listening to it to decide whether its good or not...duh. Btw - I think of Boards of Canada when Scottish electronica is mentioned.

Posts / 67 RA Since / Jul 2007 | #22 / Mon, 27 Jul 09 16:54 Dizzyo, Quertyman. Given the vast amount of great music out there, and either freely or cheaply avialble, no, I don't want to spend an hour listening to something I don't like. That's why I read reviews and comments - to guide me towards music I will like. If I listened to everything available without any prior information I'd cummulatively spend a lot of time on music I don't enjoy, even if each was only an hour.

So you rely on the feedback here to decide whether the podcast is worth listening to?! Surely your ears would provide a more accurate gauge!

Posts / 97 RA Since / Feb 2009 Location / London | #24 / Mon, 27 Jul 09 17:22 Don't be ridiculous. Since when has forming your own opinion on something ever been a good idea?
I don't get how you can make a decision by reading what other people have written. Especially on here!? You get both extremes and everything in between on RA!!! How can you decide whether YOU'RE going to like it without using your own ears?
You might be introduced to something new, be it a track, a style of music, a DJ, etc.
It costs nothing, even if you quickly flicked through and deleted it afterwards. Nothing lost but possibly something to gain.

Posts / 21 RA Since / Feb 2007 Location / dublin | #26 / Mon, 27 Jul 09 17:33 usually after reading comments on here you'd think the podcast is amazing, and it's usually not so ye, listen to the thing...decide for urself,it's not bad imo, best that's been on in a while...

Posts / 67 RA Since / Jul 2007 | #27 / Mon, 27 Jul 09 17:38 I agree that the comments are very variable in quality, but its not difficult to tell an informed opinion from a daft one. Reading all the comments together gives you a rough idea of what its like - usually only worth bothering with if the comments are generally very positive. Obviously it's better to hear it for yourself but comments and reviews can provide an initial filter.

Posts / 44 RA Since / Mar 2009 | #29 / Mon, 27 Jul 09 17:54 well screw you lot! i think this mix is fantastic. subversive, well thought out, and well executed interesting electronica. its easy to make a straight dance mix, its even easier now cuz of digital djing; i got into mixing to entertain and educate the public to the vast majority of unlistened to, unknown music. this is a guy on the same wavelength. thx drums of death. thx ra. at least its better than that god awful nsi crap! (i await ur responces lol)

Jesus!!!! I know there are some pretty stupid people who post on here but i really can't believe that some one judges wether or not to like a mix on other peoples responses. An hour!! i downloaded it, flicked through it (it took about 2 mins) and decided that i didn't like it, not the music i like. I wonder if you guys still get your mother to buy your clothes because you can't decide what you like.

Posts / 11 RA Since / Feb 2008 | #39 / Mon, 27 Jul 09 21:14 It may take an hour+ to listen to a set start to finish, it only takes a few minutes to skim through it and decide if you want to give it more attention later or not. Takes me less time to do a 'skim and decide if i want to listen to this myself or not' than to read and the comments in here. Also, opinions of users in the comments do not always match my own - I've had rather differing opinions on various podcasts than the 'general opinion of the comment thread'.
