- The Berlin radio station also told RA that it now plans to donate the proceeds to a different humanitarian organisation in Palestine.
Berlin radio station HÖR will not be able to donate proceeds from its HÖR For Palestine VA compilation to HEAL Palestine.
On Wednesday, April 17th, HÖR announced an 11-track compilation that would be raising money for the nonprofit humanitarian organisation. However in a statement sent to Resident Advisor today, April 19th, HEAL Palestine said it won't be accepting funds from the release.
"We have already notified the organisation, who we are not affiliated with in any way, that we are not accepting funds from them," the statement read. "We do generally accept donations on Instagram and through our website."
RA reached out to HÖR for comment, who explained that the compilation "was never published as a collaboration with HEAL Palestine; it was simply our initiative to raise funds for an organisation that we want to support and amplify. We apologise for any misunderstanding."
Given HEAL Palestine's statement, HÖR says it has now contacted a number of other humanitarian organisations working in Palestine to gain approval prior to sending any money raised from sales of the compilation.
Read HÖR's response in full:
"To clarify, we haven't contacted the organisations beforehand for some of our previous fundraisers, as many of them have the option to receive donations online directly without any prior agreement or approval. According to their website, there are two ways to donate to HEAL Palestine: starting your own authorised fundraiser on their page or donating funds directly to them. We intended to choose the second option.
This was never published as a collaboration with HEAL Palestine; it was simply our initiative to raise funds for an organisation that we want to support and amplify. We apologise for any misunderstanding.
Regarding the ongoing fundraiser, we have already contacted several humanitarian organisations that work in Palestine to ensure that our contribution will be received, and we await their response. An update will be published on our Instagram."
